Your smile says a lot about you and makes a huge impression on others. Because of the gaps in my teeth, I never felt good about my smile. I rarely smiled with my mouth open, and certainly not when I was getting my picture taken. Today, because of Dr. DiBartola and his dental team, I could not be happier with my smile. From start to finsih, my experience with Dr. DiBartola was painless and worry-free, and the results are excellent. Dr. DiBartola and his team take dentistry seriously and are expert at what they do. I knew I was in good hands. At the same time, the staff was supportive. They answered all of my questions and explained the procedures in advance - making me feel at ease. Sedation dentistry meant that I felt no pain during or after my procedure. Im my previous experiences with other dentists where I was awake and aware of the dental work - I had anxiety. At DiBartola Dental, I didn't have to go through all that. Essentially, I just woke up with the smile I always wanted.

Jessica Schrecengost got more than her "two front teeth for Christmas" as the song goes. The mother of four now has a radiant smile thanks to Bridgeville dentist Dr. Wayne DiBartola Jr.

The dentist, who has sweet memories playing on the Pitt team which won the Sugar Bowl Classic against Georgia on New Year's Day in 1982, granted her wish as part of a Smile Makeover Contest. She received $23,000 worth of dental improvements as the winner of the contest held with radio station FM 92.9.

DiBartola, who lives in Peters Township, said, "Many people avoid going to the dentist due to fear and anxiety. Some delay so long that they have major dental issues."

He decided to conduct the contest to demonstrate that their fears can be overcome with sedation dentistry.

"With sedation the patient is relaxed and comfortable during the entire experience and years of neglect can be corrected sometimes in only one or two visits," DiBartola said.

Schrecengost always knew the value of a smile, but was not proud of hers.

"I have always been the type of person to smile no matter what happens because there is someone out there whose life is worse than yours. No matter how bad things got, a smile made it better, whether it came from a child or just someone passing by. It just made you feel better. But my smile was nothing I could be proud of," she said.

When Schrecengost was young she didn't regularly visit a dentist. As she matured her responsibilities and meeting her children's needs, kept her from spending dental fees on herself.

"As a child, I didn't see the big deal but I wish someone would have cared just a little more," she wrote in her contest entry. She noted with regret that the one thing that she wished she could have changed was her smile.

She told how she got pregnant at age 14 and 17. At age 18, she was on her own working to support the children. "Getting any work on my teeth was not in the budget," she said.

When she was 21, she met her future husband. "I have few wedding pictures because I was ashamed of my teeth," she said.

After having two more children, she said her teeth became worse. Having bad teeth is horrible. There's some sort of pain, cavities, cracked teeth, abscess, you name it, " she said.

"With four kids, there is always something to smile or laugh at, pictures snapped, memories made. I look through all the pictures. I wish my smile was as big as the ones on my kids' faces," she said.

When her first son turned 14, he needed braces because of the effects of the bacterial meningitis he had when he was just two years old.

Her insurance would have covered this cost, but she lost her job and paid for his braces rather than fixing her teeth. Her husband told her about the contest. She wrote that she is the maid of honor for her little sister who is getting married in June.

"It would mean so much to all of us if I was able to have the pictures taken and be smiling in them," Schrecengost wrote.

Her entry was selected from 60 submitted.

Schrecengost said in just three to four visits, she was smiling from ear to and noted that Dr. DiBartola and his staff made her feel so comfortable and at ease.

"I smile all the time just because I can. It really does boost your self-confidence. I have come to realize that we only live life once and it's far too short not to enjoy it. Dr. DiBartola and his staff have given me the greatest gift I could ever ask for besides my family, of course. It's the perfect smile to show off," Schrecengost said.

No lecture! Dr. DiBartola was very informative and insured that he could save my teeth, because I thought it was too late and would need dentures! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Now I feel confident and will continue to visit Dr. DiBartola's office for dental care. Thank you.

Dr. DiBartola came out into the waiting room because I was crying. He spoke to me and was actually able to get me settled down. His staff, truly each and every one of them, made me feel so comfortable and at ease. I was actually relaxed during my exam and totally at ease when I left the office. When I went in for my extensive surgery, I was relaxed and at ease. This office and everyone in it made me feel so comfortable. I am looking forward to my next visit and I am so happy with my new smile.

Every time I visited the dentist it was a horrible experience. The dentists could never get me numb. This caused me terrible pain. This led to me not going to the dentist and caused my teeth to deteriorate. After seeing Dr. DiBartola on TV, I decided to give this a try. What a great experience!! I can honestly say I never once felt any pain with Dr. DiBartola. As a result, my teeth look good and I'm pain free. Anyone with any doubts about going to the dentist should visit Dr. DiBartola.

Now I don't mind going to the dentist!!! I have always been told that I have a great smile. BUT I was afraid of dentists due to the amount of pain I experienced; but I wanted to keep that great smile. What a dilemma! Dentists in the past have always had a problem numbing me and I actually passed out (fainted) in the dentist chair from fear and pain. Now I have NO FEAR and can receive excellent dental care without pain and fear. I also like the payment options, which allow good dental care before its too late. I drive one hour just to get to this office. Does that tell you something???

I would like to thank everyone for helping me take care of myself. Dr. D. and his wonderful staff are enabling me to take the first steps (in a long time) to ensure my good health. I first saw the TV ad for Dr. DiBartola. My husband went first to have his dental work done. He said that he had no pain with his dental work he had done. I finally got up enough courage to make an appointment with Dr. DiBartola. I actually was terrified at my first visit. Dr. DiBartola took a personal interest in just how I felt about the procedure that I was getting. We talked about different options. He took a personal interest in just my problems. After I made the right decision, we made an appoinment for my bridge. What a difference! I wonder why I waited so long. Dr. DiBartola, you might say, he bridged the gap (lol) I had. Thank you.

From the first minute I walked in, I felt well cared for by the entire staff. Dr. DiBartola examined me and made a complete diagnosis of the treatment I needed. I was explained the whole procedure, including financing. During my treatment I felt very well cared for. The sedation was easy because the staff was there monitoring everything at all times. Words can not explain the gratitude I have for you as a professional and team. I have always had this fear of going to the dentist and spent years dreading and kind of interaction with the dental office. I have tried many offices that have guaranteed to make sure the patient is as comfortable as possible - I have had horrible experiences with each one of these dental offices I have visited. I can not explain the fear I have but I know that I can not have instruments etc. in my mouth an dthe sound of the drill makes my skin crawl. My fear is a little on the extreme side so I didn't think I would ever be able to have nice teeth. I did not look at anyone in the face when I was talking to them and did not like anyone looking at me either. I hardly smiled and felt very self conscience about my teeth and smile. I forever wanted straight white teeth - and with your help and your awesome team youhave made my dream come true. I feel so much better about myself. I am extremely happy with the work you have done and not to mention your patience with my fears. I am very proud to say that you are a genuine doctor. I doubt my fears will ever go away but at least you are able to get me through my visits. (I know I want to be out of the chair as soon as I open my eyes - sometimes before I open them - and you have handled my fears and tantrums with complete patience. Please know I do not mean to be difficult in any way - I am normally a pleasant person but this is one weakness that I can not get over.) Prior to visiting and meeting Dr. DiBartola and staff. I was in an urgent need of a dentist. For 3 weeks I had INTENSE tooth pain, teeth had chipped and I knew I'd need alot because I hadn't had dental care for years. My other big concern was that it was important to me that I found a dentist that worked well with my "fear". This office was referred to me and from the moment I walked in (actually from the phone call I received prior) I was extremely impressed with how "at home" I felt. This office has the best dental "customer service" I've ever seen!! The staff is very friendly and comforting. I'd recommend this office to everyone. I am blessed and very thankful!!

I just wanted to say thank you to you and your wonderful staff. I am so grateful for the help you all have offered me, and for the kindness and respect everyone showed me during my visits to your office. I know I still have a long way to go, but with just the work I had done on Tuesday I already feel so much better. I even caught myself smiling once or twice....without covering my mouth...for the first time in I don't how long. It's funny, so many people take the ability to smile for granted...that's something I'll never do again.
